Steelers Warming up to Face Off with Jarring Jaguars
Making it a historic 2-yard touchdown run, the rookie running back was at the core of what transpired. At this moment, the Jacksonville Jaguars emerged for the season in what was a tantalizing engagement. In every way, the Jags had announced their jarring presence in a very symbolic manner. At Heinz Field on Oct.8, the second quarter had the Jaguars invading the Steelers' territory.

Fournette gained control of the ball courtesy of a gut stuffing by Jacksonville quarterback, Blake Bortles. Taking a few steps back and catapulting into the air at the 4, Fournette made a dramatic landing at least a yard into the end zone. Needless to say, this action humbled the Steelers; at least for the day. Seemingly, this slap on the face got Steelers' lineback, Bud Dupree to admit that Fournette is indeed great.
On Sunday, the Steelers host the Jaguars (11-6) in the playoffs. In this divisional round, one can't help but wonder the Steelers odds in next game. It is no surprise that the main focus will be on Fournette No. 27. Fournette's prowess and impressive battle on the field is unmistakable. However, the Steelers will also have to keep a keen eye on the backfield players. This is because the combined yards of T.J. Yeldon, Chris Ivory, Corey Grant and Bortles are 1,205 and seven touchdowns. Fournette alone finished with 1,040 yards rushing with nine touchdowns.
According to Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh coach, minimizing their run will take much more than focusing on Leonard. Tomlin went on to state that the Steelers will have to outperform their rivals. This should happen in the entire 60 minutes of the game. Tomlin further added that their strategy is to curtail the ways in which the Jaguars run the ball. In so doing, they will hopefully discourage ball possession and overall control in the coming game. It is worth noting that 231 yards rushing by the Jaguars is the most they have allowed this season. It took a total of 36 attempts by the Jaguars to finally breakthrough with Fournette. The Jaguars took it by wearing down Pittsburgh until they had to surrender.
The Jacksonville strategy involves controlling both tempo and clock; and many say that this is what is likely to transpire this weekend. This approach is credited to enabling the Jaguars reach playoffs for the very first time in a decade. They achieved this by rubbing dust on Buffalo last weekend in the wild-card round. According to T.J Watt, a Pittsburgh rookie outside lineback, the Jaguars have to be stopped through all the four quarters. The rookie acknowledges that the Jags stick to the run throughout the game.
With only five passes that made the distance, Bortles will have to make up with his legs. Against the Bills, he ran for more yards than he passed. He only had four runs of 10 yards or more. The trend of letting Bortles loose picked up for the season leading to a franchise record of 55 sacks. This is notably one more than the Jaguars. According to Dupree, one has got to stick to their rush lane to avoid being hurt. It is all about pushing him to step up in the pocket; where he can be chased down. Restricting the rush lane and pushing the pocket is what has to be done.
Ultimately, the Steelers hope to capture the AFC title game by running all the way.
