AFC North Odds: Pittsburgh Steelers are the Favorites
The Pittsburg Steelers are the team to beat since they are the titleholders of the Super Bowl.
Even as the team enjoys the lasting moments of the Super Bowl window, the head coach, Mike Tomlin, has to contemplate on replacing veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisburger, as retirement knocks on his door. Randy Fitchner, the Steelers new offensive coordinator, currently trains the 36-year-old QB. Last season, the team won 13 games, as they increased their tally of division titles to three in the last four seasons. Unless another team rises up against them, the Steelers are still the team to beat as dictated by the AFC North odds.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Stevan Ridley (running back), Morgan Burnett (Safety), Nat Berhe (defensive back), and Jon Bostic (linebacker). The Steelers did not disclose the details of the free agency involving Burnett, who seemingly was their biggest signing.
Baltimore Ravens: Receivers include Michael Crabtree and John Brown, while Morgan Burnett and Jon Bostic are the new safety and linebacker respectively. The team has an improved squad, especially with proven wideouts who are great passers in the league.
Cleveland Browns: Carlos Hyde (running back), Mychal Kendricks (linebacker), Tyrod Taylor (Quarterback), Damarious Randall (defensive back) and Jarvis Landry (wide receiver). In Week 1, Taylor has high chances of becoming the QB starter.
Cincinnati Bengals: Preston Brown (linebacker), Chris Baker (Defensive tackle), Matt Barkley (quarterback), and Cordy Glenn (left tackle). For the backup quarterback, Matthew Barkley replaced Raymond AJ McCarron who left for the Buffalo Bills.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Signing duo rookies, wide receiver James Washington and QB Mason Rudolph from Oklahoma State College has increased the Steelers hopes to revive their football magic at their tuff as soon as guard Ramon Foster leaves.
Baltimore Ravens: QB Lamar Jackson remains the most impactful rookie player in the Ravens training camp. This makes him a potential contender for the QB starter position for the team at the expense of Joe Flacco. Furthermore, tight end Hayden Hurst’s exceptional pass-catching abilities could make him a dynamic threat for the Ravens to demonstrate his first-round pick.
Cincinnati Bengals: To solidify their defensive guard, the Bengals signed Billy Price, the 22-year-old center from Ohio State as their No. 21 overall pick. Again, defensive tackle Malik Jackson is suitable for their defense frame.
Cleveland Browns: The Browns signed QB Baker Mayfield from Oklohama University as well as cornerback Denzel Wad from Ohio State as a strategy for solidifying the team with their top-two picks in the draft.
Hue Jackson, the Browns head coach has a tall order in the ill-starred Cleveland. If he has to secure his job by the end of the season, he must turn around the team from losing ways to winning ways. Therefore, he will fully depend on the steadfastness of both Mayfield and Taylor to lead the squad’s rebirth.
1. Pittsburgh Steelers: This is the favorite team to beat in the division, as the other teams barely threaten their prowess and position.
2. Baltimore Ravens: The team won the Super Bowl XLVII 5 years ago, but has failed to qualify for the playoffs in three successive seasons.
3. Cleveland Browns: If the 2018 NFL season ends with at least four wins for the Browns, it would be a great achievement for a celebration.
4. Cincinnati Bengals: Since taking over as the coach in January 2003, Marvin Lewis will lead the Bengals for the 16th season in a row. However, the linebacker Vontaze Burfict remains suspended for the start the 2018 regular season.
