Pittsburgh Steelers: Five Unmissable Games in the 2018 Regular Season
With the schedule for 2018 NFL regular season already released, the Pittsburgh Steelers now know their upcoming games. Seemingly, even fans already feel that the team will be facing their tougher opponents in the second half of the season.
Generally, the Steelers have a tough schedule, even as they play four of their six division games in the first half of the season and before week 8, which they are expected to record wins. Overall, the following are the top five matchups that you should not miss this upcoming season, a test for Steelers odds to win the Super Bowl.
1. Season Opener - 9/9/18 @Cleveland
The Steelers begin their 2018 NFL season on the road with a game against the Cleveland Browns, an unmissable matchup! Almost half a year will have passed without any competitive football and fans should be thrilled to begin on such a high note and satisfying entertainment as they cheer for an improvement of Steelers odds to win the Super Bowl.
Cleveland still have their draft scheduled for this weekend, but their competitive nature remains unshaken, an indication that they have planned to scramble for the division’s top spot. Just stay put for the all division games because most football match-ups for AFC north have the potential to break records.
2. Home Opener - 9/16/18 vs Kansas City
After the season opener on the road, the Steelers return on their home ground for their second game against Kansas City. What makes
this matchup great is that even though the Chiefs reached the playoffs last season, Alex Smith is no longer part of the team and Patrick Mahomes takes over as the offensive signal caller.
If you have not yet planned to get tickets for this game, go get it because Heinz Field is known for an electrifying atmosphere, especially when the home team is playing against a superior challenger.
3. Week 11 - 11/08/18 @Jacksonville Jaguars
This matchup will be a perfect opportunity for the Steelers to exert revenge on Jacksonville Jaguars after an embarrassing 2017 season when they recorded zero points against them. Travelling to their adversary’s grounds seems daunting, but the losses they suffered in the 2017 divisional round will be a point of motivation to record a win.
Pittsburgh hopes to pump up their confidence with a win in front of an ever-energetic Jacksonville crowd. As they focus on reaching the playoffs, even the Jaguars have to be competitive from the word go. Therefore, the battle would begin with this matchup.
4. Week 15 - 12/06/18 vs New England
In Week 15, the Steelers welcome New England Patriots, one of their biggest adversaries. Some may have already predicted that this game would be a replica of the 2017 season. However, diehard home fans expect the showdown at Heinz Field to be the decider for their team’s inclusion in the 2018 playoffs.
Furthermore, this regular season game would be the last face-to-face meeting between some of the oldest QBs in the NFL: Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady.
5. Week 6 and Week 17 vs the Cincinnati Bengals
The recent years have seen the Steelers and the Bengals display spectacular matchups with fierce battles since their 2016 playoff game.
Both games this season should repeat the same flare as seen in their second meeting in 2017 when Juju Smith-Schuster blocked Vontaze Burfict and the late TD that originated from Antonio Brown being hit.
Both teams have the potentialto continue knocking horns for the divisional title race in 2018, which makes their head-to-head in week 17 unmissable!
